Shiloh National Military Park Offering a Special Ranger Led Battlefield Hike – “Bull Nelson Pushes the Left”

Shiloh National Military Park is excited to announce a special ranger led hike taking place on this Saturday, June 29. Join Ranger Timothy Arnold for “Bull Nelson Pushes the Left.”

The hike will follow the path of General William Nelson’s Division from Wicker Field, through the Peach Orchard and into Sara Bell’s cotton field on the second day of the battle. Hikers will learn about the forces and commanders involved on both sides as Nelson’s quick advance is met by severe Confederate counterattacks.

The hike will begin at Tour Stop #18 (Peach Orchard) at 10:00 am. Hikers should be prepared to walk up to two-miles on uneven terrain. Appropriate clothing for the weather, comfortable walking shoes, water, and insect repellent are recommended.

Pre-registration is required. Please call the Shiloh Visitor Center at 731-689-5696 any day of the week between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm to reserve your spot.
