Our Jackson Home Unveils New Murals in Downtown Jackson

Our Jackson Home has revealed two vibrant murals in Jackson that celebrate both the energy of the community and the legacy of its musical legends.

On Saturday, April 19, the West TN Farmers Market welcomed a cheerful new addition with the unveiling of That Saturday Feeling,” a mural by local artists Katie Howerton and Hilary Griffith. The mural captures the spirit of community and joy that fills the market every weekend. As detailed in a behind-the-scenes blog feature by Truman Forehand, the process of designing and installing a large public mural is no small feat. A special thanks goes to the City of Jackson, TN – Government for their collaboration in bringing this mural to life.

On Saturday, April 26, another milestone was celebrated at Jackson’s AMP at the Market with the unveiling of the Jackson Legends mural. Painted by artist Trinity Rivard, the mural honors musical icons with deep Jackson roots, all nominated by the public. The artwork features Big Maybelle, Joe Hunter, Denise LaSalle, Gil Scott-Heron, Carl Perkins, Ruby Falls, Sonny Boy Williamson I, and W.S. Holland—a moving tribute to the city’s musical legends. The unveiling was held during the Vintage Makers Music and Art Festival, and many of the musician’s families were able to join.

Both projects were made possible with the support of the City of Jackson, the West TN Farmers Market, and the community’s involvement. These murals not only beautify public spaces but also honor the stories and people that make Jackson truly unique.

Be sure to stop by and experience both murals—”That Saturday Feeling” at the West TN Farmers Market and “Jackson Legends” at Jackson’s AMP at the Market.
