NEW MURAL INSTALLATION AT THE WEST TENNESSEE FARMERS’ MARKET WITH A PUBLIC REVEAL CELEBRATION

On April 12th at 11:00 a.m the public is invited to attend a reveal celebration of Jackson-based artists Katie Howerton and Hilary Griffith’s new mural on the Annex building of the West Tennessee Farmers’ Market. This mural is titled That Saturday Feeling and attendees can expect to be the first to see and take photos with the newly completed mural and hear directly from the artists about their mural design and installation process.

Howerton and Griffith participated as a team in Our Jackson Home and the City of Jackson’s collaborative Design Dash event in January 2025, a two day design event with local artists who proposed mural concepts for a wall of the Annex building at the West Tennessee Farmers’ Market. The artists’ design was chosen by a panel of community members and representatives from the City of Jackson at the event, resulting in the artists receiving funds to install the mural.

Howerton and Griffith set out to create a mural design that reflects the West Tennessee Farmers’ Market as more than just a market, but an experience for all who visit the market. With their mural design, they chose to encapsulate the feeling of going to the market on a bustling Saturday with friends, gathering favorite produce and goodies, and soaking in the slow pace, the high quality, and the carefully curated locally grown goodness: that Saturday feeling.

This mural has been made possible by the public art partnership of Our Jackson Home and the City of Jackson. To learn more about public art in Jackson visit ourjacksonhome.com/publicart.
