“Monuments with Meaning” Ranger Led Bicycle Tour at Shiloh

On Saturday, June 15, Shiloh National Military Park will offer a special ranger led five-mile bicycle tour.

The “Monuments with Meaning” bicycle tour will focus on the Confederate monumentation at Shiloh. This ranger led tour will explore the effort of those who placed monuments at Shiloh in order that the soldiers who fought here would never be forgotten. The tour will also discuss the significance of location for monumentation.

The bicycle ride will begin at the park’s Visitor Center at 10:00 am and cover about 5-miles. All participants must bring their own bicycle and are reminded to bring water and wear light-colored or reflective clothing appropriate for the weather. Helmets are recommended, but all children under 16 are required to wear a helmet.

Participants must register in advance by calling 731-689-5696. For more information on this and other events go to www.nps.gov/shil, find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/shilohnmp, or follow us on Twitter at /ShilohNPS.
