Hub City Theatre Company is bringing the Bard to the great outdoors with a lively production of Comedy of Errors in Rotary Park, just outside the Jackson-Madison County Library. Audiences will have the chance to enjoy this classic Shakespearean comedy under the open sky, set against the unique backdrop of 1920s Appalachia. Running for two weekends, from March 28 through April 6, the production offers a perfect way to kick off the spring season in Jackson.
Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare’s most hilarious plays, filled with mistaken identities, slapstick comedy, and lively misunderstandings. The story follows two sets of identical twins separated at birth, whose chance reunion in a bustling city leads to a series of comic mishaps and confusion. From mix-ups in love to humorous run-ins with the law, the fast-paced action and witty dialogue make this a fun, easy-to-follow romp for audiences of all ages. It’s a lighthearted exploration of how simple errors can spiral into outrageous situations—perfect for a night of laughter under the stars.
Directed by Isabella Gray, the show operates on a donation-based model, with a suggested $10 donation at the gate but no required ticket purchase. To assist with planning for seating and accommodations, patrons are encouraged to visit hubcitytheatre.com/tickets to “purchase” tickets, specifying their desired donation amount. This process helps provide an accurate headcount while maintaining the accessible, pay-what-you-can spirit of the production.
