DESCRIPTION:Join Shiloh National Military Park for Shiloh Rocks! – a Geology and Earthquake Junior Ranger Camp on Saturday\, June 1\, 2024. Come and learn about the geological processes that makes the Shiloh landscape look the way it does\, and how the weather and climate continue to change the landscape. We will explore earthquakes and build our rock knowledge with Shiloh Rangers. \nThe camp will be held on Saturday\, June 1\, at the Shiloh National Military Park visitor center from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. \nParticipation in this camp is free to registered Junior Rangers and their guardians\, so don’t wait\, register today by calling 731-689-5696. SUMMARY:"Bull Nelson Pushes the Left" Ranger Led Hike
DESCRIPTION:The hike will follow the path of General William Nelson’s Division from Wicker Field\, through the Peach Orchard and into Sara Bell’s cotton field on the second day of the battle. Hikers will learn about the forces and commanders involved on both sides as Nelson’s quick advance is met by severe Confederate counterattacks. \nThe hike will begin at Tour Stop #18 (Peach Orchard) at 10:00 am. Hikers should be prepared to walk up to two-miles on uneven terrain. Appropriate clothing for the weather\, comfortable walking shoes\, water\, and insect repellent are recommended. \nPre-registration is required. Please call the Shiloh Visitor Center at 731-689-5696 any day of the week between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm to reserve your spot.
