Join Ranger Laura Lee McKellips to explore the actions of the night of October 4, 1862, and the fighting at Davis Bridge the next day as the Confederates retreated from Corinth and attempted to escape the clutches of a pursuing Federal Army.
Participants will learn about the Union and Confederate positions during the battle on October 5, 1862, while visiting and walking out to the various sites involved in the fighting and retreat.
The hike will take place from 10:00 am -12:00 pm. Visitors will meet at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center and car caravan to Davis Bridge and Metamora Hill, near Pocahontas, Tennessee. The car caravan will make a few stops along the way to point out important actions that took place on October 5th.
The hike to the Davis Bridge site from the parking area is less than 1 mile (roundtrip) over moderate terrain including gravel and dirt. Participants should wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and hiking into the woods.
