2nd Annual Juneteenth Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast

Commemorating the emancipation of African American slaves, Juneteenthofficially became a federal holiday in 2021 after being celebrated for decades in communities across the U.S. In West Tennessee, there are several events scheduled to mark the occasion. Friday, June 16, 2023 Pre-Juneteenth Youth Celebration Downtown Pedestrian Park 302 S. College St. Trenton, TN 38382 The celebration will be held from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. There will be youth performances, food trucks, games, art auction and vendors set up in the park. It is advised to bring a lawn chair. Saturday, June 17, 2023 34th Annual Freedom Day Celebration hosted by the Society of African American Cultural Awareness T.R. White Sportsplex 304 North Hays Avenue Jackson, TN 38301 There will be vendors, live music, speakers, and the newly crowned Miss Juneteenth Jackson 2023, Mendy Pettigrew, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This outdoor event is free to the public. Juneteenth Celebration Downtown Pedestrian Park 302 S. College St. Trenton, TN 38382 This celebration will be held from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair! 2nd Annual Juneteenth Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast Carver High School Gymnasium 709 East Jefferson Street Brownsville, TN 38012 This breakfast begins at 9 a.m. is hosted by Mayor William D. Rawls. The special guest speaker is Dr. Keith Norman of First Baptist Church Broad in Memphis, TN. Carroll County’s Annual Juneteenth Celebration Edwards Park 210 3rd Ave Huntingdon, TN 38344 This event will begin with a parade on 10 a.m. followed by the celebration at 11 a.m. This year’s event will include music, fireworks, vendors and more! It’s recommended to bring your own lawn chairs. Juneteenth Festival Celebrating Freedom hosted by Hardeman County Commission for Black History Sand Beach Lake 14495 US-64 Bolivar, TN 38008 This celebration will be held from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. This festival will feature food trucks, music, vendors, and a Juneteenth talent show. Saturday, June 17, 2023-Sunday June 18, 2023 The African American Heritage & Music Festival Viking Park 2602 Viking Dr. Humboldt, TN 38343 More than 40 vendors will be set up in addition to food, music, dancing, contests, art, and much more. Festivities will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Monday, June 19, 2023 4th Annual Juneteenth Family Challenge 8th Street and Lexington Street Trenton, TN This event begins at 10 a.m. Juneteenth Celebration Gibson County Memorial Library 303 S. High St. Trenton, TN This celebration will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth!
