Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store and Casey Jones Village Expand Free Children’s Activities to Five Days a Week

Families in Jackson and surrounding areas now have even more reasons to spend quality time together at Casey Jones Village. Beginning Monday, July 29, Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store and Casey Jones Village are expanding children’s activities, Story Time Station and Casey’s Craft Camp, to five days a week. The new schedule aims to provide families with a welcoming environment where they can enjoy meaningful experiences and create lasting memories.

“We invite our Guests to spend the day at Casey Jones Village, enjoying engaging activities, delicious meals, and exploring all that we have to offer,” said Brooks Shaw, President of Old Country Store. “From buying souvenirs to participating in various activities, there’s something for everyone to make the most of their visit.” Shaw added that they plan to add more afternoon activities geared toward elementary and middle school-aged children later in the fall.

Previously only available on Wednesdays, Story Time Station will now be offered for children ages 2-6, Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m., in the Casey Jones Museum. Kids will experience exciting stories as well as interactive and guided activities, such as songs, games or drawings.

Casey’s Craft Camp will also be available Monday through Friday at 12:30 p.m. This activity is geared toward children ages 4-8 and will allow their creativity to flourish as they are guided through a unique craft that they can later take home. Stories, activities and crafts will rotate on a weekly basis, so families may choose a day which best suits their schedule. Parents, grandparents and guardians must stay with their children throughout all activities. Families are encouraged to grab a delicious lunch at the Old Country Store Restaurant or Dixie Cafe in between activities, explore the farm and enjoy Art in the Village.

Roxanne Lyons, Old Country Store’s Arts & Entertainment representative, will lead both activities, with other team members stepping in as needed. “We encourage parents, grandparents and guardians to bring their little ones to participate in both Story Time Station and Casey’s Craft Camp,” said Lyons. “It will be an opportunity to make new friends, learn and grow.”

Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store is a multi-faceted destination. Located at 56 Casey Jones Lane in Jackson, Tennessee, it encompasses the restaurant, Miss Anne’s Ice Cream Shoppe, Miss Juanita’s Gift Shop, and the Dixie Café Takeout or Dine-In. The establishment is gearing up to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2025.
