Last week’s winter storm brought more than snow and ice to Jackson—it brought unexpected closures, reduced hours, and lost income for many of the people who keep our local hospitality and service industries running. From restaurant servers and bartenders to stylists, retail associates, and service professionals, many hardworking neighbors missed out on critical wages and tips.
That’s why Visit Jackson, TN, in partnership with the Greater Jackson Chamber, is launching Big Tip, a community-wide initiative encouraging residents and visitors to show up for local businesses and the people behind them.
Big Tip runs now through February 15, 2026, and it’s simple: Support local service workers by choosing local businesses and tipping generously.
When you dine out, grab a drink, book a haircut, or enjoy a service experience in Jackson, you’re directly supporting the people who make our community vibrant. A little extra generosity right now can help offset the income many workers lost during weather-related closures and slowdowns.
Behind every great meal, friendly smile, and memorable experience is a local worker who depends on tips to make ends meet. The winter storm forced many establishments to close or operate at limited capacity, resulting in lost income for both businesses and employees.
Big Tip is about more than dining out, it’s about community. It’s a reminder that when we support local, we’re supporting our neighbors, our friends, and our local economy.
Getting involved is easy:
🍽️ Dine at local restaurants
🍹 Grab a drink at your favorite spot
✂️ Book an appointment with a local stylist or service provider
💙 Tip generously and spread the word
Every visit, every purchase, and every tip helps make a difference.
Jackson’s service industry is the heartbeat of our community. Through Big Tip, we invite you to rally with us, support local businesses, and help our service workers recover from the unexpected impacts of the winter storm.
Let’s come together as a community and show our appreciation—one meal, one service, and one generous tip at a time.
