“Shiloh National Military Park is excited to announce a free car caravan tour on the Shiloh Battlefield,” said Superintendent Catherine Bragaw.
Visitors are invited to join Ranger Anthony Killion on Saturday, July 27, 2024, for a three-hour guided tour of the April 1862 Battle of Shiloh. Sites to be explored on this tour include Fraley Field, Water Oaks Pond, the Peach Orchard, Jones Field, and the Hornet’s Nest, as well as others. The program will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 12:00 pm.
Participants should expect a short walk at each tour stop over uneven terrain, with a maximum distance of no more than ¼ mile at each location. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water and snacks, and to use insect repellant. Lightning and thunder will cancel the program.
Space on this program is limited to ten vehicles, so sign up early to reserve a spot and consider carpooling with friends and family to make room for others. Reservations can be made by calling the Shiloh Visitor Center at 731-689-5696.
